Dog Training in Great Falls, MT

They Can't Listen If They Can't Sit Still

Most behavior problems don’t stem from disobedience. They’re the result of a dog who has more energy than outlet, or a dog who was never clearly told what the expectation was.

At Happy Tails Lodge, our training works on both.

Small classes, clear fundamentals, and a trainer who coaches you alongside your dog — because the part that sticks is what happens after you leave.

Basic Obedience Class

$150

Our basic training course runs weekly, Monday through Wednesday evenings. Class size is kept very small on purpose: fewer dogs means more attention, and more attention means faster progress.

Coursework covers sit, stay, come, and the rest of the fundamentals that make a dog easier to live with. Once the class is complete, you can schedule one private session with our trainer to work on whatever is specific to your dog.

That last piece is worth taking. Group class builds the foundation. The private session is where you fix the thing that’s driving you crazy.

Private Training

Some issues don’t belong in a group setting, and some owners would rather work one-on-one from the start. Our trainer sets up private sessions to work on specific problems, at the Lodge or in your home.

Reach out and we’ll connect you with our trainer directly to talk through which approach fits your dog.

Why Training Works Better Here

Our training programs are designed to help your dog do their very best.

  • Very small classes: A dog who gets individual attention learns faster than a dog in a crowd.
  • We train you, too: Commands only work if the person holding the leash knows how to use them.
  • A private session built into the course: Most programs charge separately for one-on-one time.
  • Daycare in the same building: Dogs practicing social skills in supervised group play show up to class with that energy already spent and those manners already forming.
  • Training during a boarding stay: Add sessions to a longer visit, and your dog comes home having worked on it.

What Good Training Delivers

A trained dog isn’t just a quieter or better-behaved dog. It’s a dog you can take places.

It’s the recall that holds when a squirrel crosses your path. A down-stay that survives the doorbell. A walk where you’re not being dragged. Those are the things that turn a pet into a companion, and they’re all built out of the same handful of fundamentals, practiced until they’re automatic.
